The lupin has a beautiful ordering of flowers, but it is not in a spiral. See how a ring of flowers grow at intervals. The flowers are ordered such that the eye can see a spiral pattern, but it appears that the spirals are the same in each direction. You won't see 5 in one direction and 8 in another, for example, as you'd find in a pinecone.
