It's easy to find flowers whose number of petals is a Fibonacci number. Then again, it is also easy to find flowers with different numbers, such as 4, 6, or in this case, 18. We must be careful not to jump to conclusions. The fact the picture on the right could be because three petals had fallen off before the photograph was taken. The fact that many flowers have 3, 5, 8 or 21 petals doesn't prove that Fibonacci numbers make better flowers. There are five Fibonacci numbers under 10, so perhaps it is co-incidental. Perhaps some other driving force caused those numbers to be preferred. I would find it more convincing if flowers with large numbers of petals were predominantly using 21, 35 or 55. The mere fact that 3 and 5 shows up is not a strong enough argument to be convincing.
