Fibonacci

Artichokes are one of the clearest examples of the Fibonacci spiralling. You can see the order of the leaf growth by plucking them one at a time.

I had to include this illustration by the artist Helen Krayenhoff. She didn't just make beautiful pictures, she got IT right. She saw the pattern, the magic. The leaves on the artichoke spiral correctly, they aren't simply show in an X pattern.
